CRASHED DYNA STREET BOB REBUILD
So this bike was crashed and the frontend was complete junk. The owner said he wanted a winter project and the bike to be completely blacked out. TCR powder coated did all the powder coating and so the project starts.
New handlebars 14″, along with the trees and fork lowers being done in flat black. Completely new legs. Even had the back of the headlight was done in flat black. That’s a new 19″ wheel from a 2011 Dyna. The back wheel will be from a Cross Bones soft-tail. We’ll be fitting a 200 series Metzler tire. Custom spacers and the old Pully are being machined as I type this info.
I’ll be adding PM grips, and some new mirrors and finishing the wiring I hope this week. I’ll also be installing some cool blinkers to the fender struts. So check back really soon.
The pipes are stock with Vance & Hines slip-ons. We had the heat shields and slip-ons powder coated in flat black. The Air filter was done in black wrinkle. If you look at the rear tire you’ll notice that isn’t the stock wheel. I’ll comment about that later.
We ordered a 2011 brand new 21 inch rim which comes in Black. The wheel is still a 19 inch. The lowers were powder coated in flat black. We also did the upper & lower fork trees in the same color. The back of the headlight was done in flat black also.
The rear will is a 200 tire. We ordered up a Cross bones brand new rear wheel which matched the new 2011 Dyna front wheel. The rear fender stay was spread (Shop secret). Then we slowly spread the rear Fender. I’ve only seen it done on the flat color paint jobs. I’m not sure regular paint would stand up to what I did to this Fender. The stock pulley and spacers had to be cut down to get the belt alignment perfect.
After some test riding I parked the rebuilt Dyna next to my Brand new 2011 Dyna. Unless you’ve spent time around these bikes before, or seen the build. You would have thought that both the bikes were brand new. The two bikes show different styles that can be built into the Dyna street Bob. Notice the rear blinkers are right on the end of the fender struts. I plan to do this to my personal bike at some point.

CRASHED SOFTTAIL RESTORE
This bike was crashed and pretty much all the sheet metal was junk. The motor had base and rocker box leaks. The front forks were bent but all the lights still worked. The motor was blowing a bit of smoke. The Customer didn’t want to total the bike.
So the Customer purchased all new sheet metal and had a friend of his paint this pearl white with a metal flack in it.
I added a new head light kit right from Harley. re-used the light bar and lights. We replaced the handle Bars with 19 inch Ape’s. The bars were internally wired. We added chrome switch Cover’s from Drag. New PM grips. New throttle cable and clutch cables. New handle bar bushings and a bigger handle bar top clamp.
The heads had to be sent out for a valve job at Motor way. The cylinders’ where bored 20 over and new pistons and rings where install. New wrist pin bushings were installed and reamed to spec with new wrist pins. Plus a new inner and outer primary in chrome were installed. Along with a new primary chain, clutch and primary adjustment shoe. New floor boards and new shifter.
I also installed a hotter cam and with adjustable pushrods. New Oil pump from S&S in chrome as installed with braided oil lines. About the only think not done was the tranny.

2011 DYNA STREET BOB
It’s True! I traded in the 2006 Road Glide. 40,000 plus miles and lots of memories. The weight and size was starting to become a issue. I tend to ride very hard, and the size was taken its toll on my operation surgery area. So after riding a couple of Dyna’s I just like the Street Bob. It was between the Bob and Cross Bones. I couldn,t deal with the springer frontend.

I had made statements that I’d not going to change anything. Well the bike had no sound to speak of with the stock exhaust. The 96 inch motor had some good power for stock right off the floor. I will say that the setup was the worse I’ve seen on a brand new bike. I’ve already talked to the dealership and my good friend in service. I was told to go though the whole bike. Seeing as they didn’t even connect the positive Battery Cable to the Battery. The Cable was just shoved under the cover and was making contact. Bike shorted out on a ride with my friends Andy, and Len. So after being cut off by three to five cars. One Lady telling me she didn’t even hear me. I told her to open her F%&king eye’s. I decided to get some Vance and Hines Shortshots Staggered pipes. I went with the Screaming Eagle highflow big breather setup.

Not having bags after owning a bagger is harder then I thought. So I put on some Saddlemen detachable bags made for Dyna’s. They even have locks on the three latches. The only thing I don’t like is the blinker relocation mounts. I’ll be looking into changing them later next year. I also added the rear back seat offered by Harley. I added the seat to attach my Saddlemen tour pack. This will help when I need more storage space.

BASSANI ROAD RAGE 2 into 1 HEADER
I so wanted a Thunder Header for my 06 Road Glide. Coming from the Buell and Sport Bike world I new that 2 into 1 most often makes the best power. I was visiting my local e Performance Shop R & R cycles to pick up some CP Piston to rebuild me 95 inch motor. Art and I started talking about pipes and the only pipe they had on the wall was the Bassani Road Rage 2 into 1 pipe.
Here are the details of what I was told, and what I’ve read about this amazing pipe. The Road Rage’s Power curve starts with stepped, equal-length header pipes that boost power way down Low. We half to face it people most of us will never hit rev-line on are Harley’s. The price of speeding ticket for 30 mph over the limit is pretty huge. Plus you could lose your license.
So 0-80 is what I’m interested. I’m talking 2000 rpm’s – about 3600 rpm’s is where I live and expect the power to come on hard. So Bassani built the pipe with this idea in mine and produced a pipe that works right where you need it in the real world.
So you have stepped headers of equal length. A 4 inch megaphone muffler with fiberglass-wrapped baffles that is removable for service. You can have Chrome or flat black. The system bolts up to the OEM mounts. I’m told this system will work with anything from 80 inches to 131 inches.
Installation was a snap. You can order the system with full coverage heat shields. I didn’t order the shields. Instead I called up DEI and ordered some Black heat tape and there spray for heat tape. The effect is unreal in the looks department and the heat is kept in the pipe and forced out the tail-pipe. This equals more power.
I have 1000 miles on the pipe at this time. I’ve ridden in rain and even a small snow shower and the pipe still looks great. The exhaust tape has held up great so far to date. My plans for Sunday are to go to my friends Craig’s at Hell Fire Performance and do some tuning and then report back the results. The motor Stat’s are the following: 95 inches with CP piston 3,875 bore done to stock Cylinders by R&R cycles. I’m running the stock cam plate with chain drive and 203 Screaming Eagle Cams. I also have the Force Winder Scream Eagle style are Cleaner. My plans are to get the S&S double style cleaner with the two filters sometime this summer.
So check back soon for the results.

Cross Bones exhaust upgrade
Samsons Exhaust for your Soft-tail. Personally I think this Exhaust was just made for the Cross Bones. This was the first Samsons exhaust
I’ve ever installed. The finish is perfect and the welds are probably the best on the market. The heat shields fit perfect and it was simple
to install the clamps.
I had to test fit the pipes a couple of times to get the spacing right. You’ll half to remove the factory spacer on the right blinker so the
tail-pipe won’t hit it. The left side should be done also so it looks right. Just take off the fender mounts covers. Then take off tail light
and unplug the blinkers. Then remove the two pens from each plug. You can then unscrew the blinker mounting bolt and remove the spacer. Find
yourself two new mounting bolts that are shorter and attached the blinker to the cover without a spacer.
The look still works with the factory style of this bike. Plus now it’s a chopped and cut bike like it’s suppose to be from the factory.
I’ve fixed the blinker issues at the rear fender so now back to the pipe. The pipe needed some spacers added to the mounting spots. I did
to keep the pipes lined up from the header back to the rear fender. This really made the final fitment look factory and almost perfect amount
of space between the pipes, as the pipes bends up at the rear. I would have liked to see Samsons have the spacers in the install kit.
The sound is so much better then the stock pipes. Nice bark to the pipes. I did add a power commander V to the bike. We really had to make
some changed to the factory wiring to get the PC V to fit under the seat cover on the Cross Bones. I’ve read this is a issue on all the
Soft-tail models. I would recommend the Thudermax Zippers self tuning ECU system from this point on.
The look is how this bike should look from the factory. This is a modern bike which was built to have a old school look. I think we really
nailed the old school look by adding the pipe system you see here now.

So it’s almost April! The guy’s are pulling out their bikes and parts they purchased over the winter. Shawn is Jay’s brother who did the Baddads fender install earlier this winter. Shawn wanted a bit more WOW factor on his ride this season. So Shawn purchased a DNA wheel. This is the thick 52 spoked Wheel which is the 21 inch wheel. He also ordered brake rotors to match the wheel. The only thing you half to do is drill out the Fender mounting holes to make it so fender so it won’t rube. It also makes the lines of the fender and the wheel look correct. I also like the fact that you don’t need to run a tube in this spoked wheel. Make sure you tighten the air valve before installing the tire. The 3 wheels from DNA I’ve mounted came with the Valves not tight. DNA does supply the spacer parts to install on the older style FL wheels. We used the stock spacers with no issues. I recommend floating Rotors when adding new rotors. Also make sure you install new brake pads when installing new Rotors.
I know Shawn is planning a Custom Fender over the next couple of Months. He’s also planing on Chroming up the front end. Shawn was pretty pumped when he left on Saturday to show off his new Custom DNA Wheel. I’ll keep you posted on Sean’s upgrades as the season continues.
